In an era defined by rapid technological advancements and ever-evolving user expectations, the digital landscape for financial institutions is undergoing a transformative shift. Staying attuned to the latest website trends is not just a necessity, but a strategic imperative for financial institutions aiming to secure their foothold in the competitive market. In this blog, we delve into the latest website trends that are reshaping the way financial institutions connect with their clients, enhance accessibility and keep compliance in mind.

Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi factor authentication can also be known as two factor authentication. This adds an extra layer of security when logging into your website’s CMS. Over the past two years, we have seen this shown on audits more and more. While its not required, it is strongly recommended by auditors. As a web development company, we see this becoming required in the future. If you do not have MFA, talk with your web provider. If you already work with a third party like DUO, you can also use that for your website’s MFA.

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

Web content accessibility guidelines help a site follow the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), overlaying a technology onto the financial institution’s website making it more accessible to those who need to navigate the site with certain disabilities. For example, this allows limited movement on the screen to avoid triggering seizures or changing contrast to still be able to properly view/read things on the site. Removing accessibility barriers allows a greater chance for a customer conversion as well as limiting chances of a potential ADA lawsuit for not being accessible.

Data Privacy

This is comparable to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is a cookie consent banner added to a site that says something along the lines of, “We use cookies on this site to enhance your user experience. Please accept.” A user can accept or go to a self-service opt-out area to choose which cookies you can and can’t track. Unfortunately, this currently varies by state so it’s a bit of a grey area on whether its required or not depending on where you’re located. We suggest consulting with legal counsel and adding it to your site if they recommend doing so. Over the next few years, we hope to see the states align on data privacy laws.

Chat Integrations

Not all financial institutions utilize chat integrations and that’s okay. However, we are seeing them climb in popularity. Adding a third-party chat integration to your site can go different ways – it can be a text chat, messenger-style or AI driven. Some common third-party chats other FIs have integrated with us have been Podium, Glia and POPi/o.

If you’re looking for a website that follows the above and offers even more, the forbinfi experts are here to deliver! We build custom websites with content crafted uniquely to your financial institution, all with compliance, accessibility and user experience in mind.
